Social Tango Project Dallas Theatre reviews
Underwhelmed
Overall, I would rate it good. The band was limited to 4 players including Freddie, and all were quite good. A very high energy performance. The drummer sang a little at one point when Social Tango Project unexpectedly (?) left the stage. Often where the original songs called for a higher octave, Social Tango Project seemed limited to lower octaves, and the music was so loud you had to pay close attention to Social Tango Project’s lower range. Besides, I and everyone were singing so loudly he could have not been singing at all and we would still have had a good time. Don’t know if that was planned or not, but he sang one song while Social Tango Project was off stage and was actually quite good. Instrumentation, other band members, and backup pre-recorded (?) vocals filled in pretty adequately. He actually had better vocal range than Social Tango Project (more about that in the cons). Freddie was VERY energetic, he was all over the stage, on the drum platform, toes dangling over the edge of the stage. Cons: Social Tango Project’s vocal range was quite limited. I believe I read where he had some vocal cord issues that may have left him limited, but he gave it his physical best so I have no strong complaints.
